Cranbury Families Program in the news!

"Congratulations to our Norwalkers of the week: Dave Kuban and Heidi Alterman!!! Dave and Heidi have been beacons of hope in difficult times, lighting the way for others. We couldn't pick just one!

Dave Cuban of Planet Pizza immediately took action in March to help others in need when Covid-19 first shut down our city and there was a lot of fear and unknowns. He ensured his employees received staples so they were taken care of during the lean months. He collected donations and sent meals to the frontline workers at the hospital. He worked with school communities and sent meals to families in need. In November he supplied Thanksgiving for tons of families. He collects toys and gifts for Christmas. He has shown incredible generosity and thoughtfulness. Even when we arranged to bring him his prize, he refused to let us leave without sending us off with a hot meal. Dave is a true Norwalker through and through! Here's where to get some great Planet Pizza yumminess: http://www.planetpizza.com/norwalk-ct/l5

Heidi Alterman has been so busy these last few months helping in multiple ways. Most recently, she has been collecting clothes, toys, car seats, blankets, coats and anything that can help Norwalk families in need. She started by trying to meet the needs of families at Cranbury School, but then generously has expanded to serving many others. One family had no heat, and Heidi went out in a blizzard to bring blankets and coats to keep them warm! This summer she worked to improve the gardens at Cranbury school, painting and planting. She also worked to help Norwalkers put raised beds behind their homes so they can grow their own food. This summer, when the George Floyd video became public and motivated many to educate themselves and take action about issues of race and social justice, Heidi offered her backyard as a place to meet and discuss what was needed to make our city and state a more equitable and just place.

Both of our Norwalkers of the Week received Gratitude and tin candles from Zena Moon, hand crafted by Jennifer Tofte Balliett. If you would like to support this local business, check it out here: zenamoon.com.
